Competition Rules

  1. Paddlers are strongly encouraged to wear or carry a USCG-approved personal floatation device (PFD) during the race.
  2. Paddlers must wear the race jersey provided at check-in with their bib number attached and readily visable at all times during the race.
  3. Boards must be equipped with leashes which must be used during the race.
  4. Paddlers are advised to stay well-hydrated during the race.  It is strongly advised that competitors wear hydration packs or have another means to carry water with them. Water will be available at the start.
  5. All races will start on the beach in front of the Maho Bay Pavilion.
  6. Paddlers will start on the beach behind the start line with board and paddles in hand.
  7. All races will finish on the beach in front of the Maho Bay Pavilion.
  8. At the finish, paddlers should dismount in shallow water, disconnect their leashes, and run to the finish line on the beach.  Please note that your time ends when you cross the finish line on the beach – not when you stop paddling or when you beach your board.
  9. Paddlers must round buoys and turnaround points as described in the Course Description.  Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
  10. There are no restrictions on board size or design.
  11. Drafting is permitted.
