Join us for the 5th Annual "Paddle the Park" Sunday, November 4th at Maho!

Virgin Islands National Park has a lot to offer, on land and on the sea! This event highlights the the rich biodiversity found along our coastline, and fosters a deeper appreciation for the protection of our fragile marine ecosystem.

Note: There will be no registration after 2pm Saturday November 3rd, and no registration on race day.

Registration fees include:

  • Event entry
  • Race jersey (a water-friendly rash guard that must be worn during the race)
  • Event “goodie bag”
  • Lunch at awards ceremony

Race Day:

All competitors are strongly urged to review the Course DescriptionCompetition Rules and Course Maps in preparation for the race. 

  1. Check-in for registered participants will start at 7:30 am on race day, Sunday, November 4th
  2. A pre-race briefing will start at 8:30 am
  3. The races will start at 9:00 am.

There will be three courses:

  1. Short Course from Maho Beach to the NPS floating fee station and back - about 1 mile
  2. Open Course from Maho Beach to Whistling Cay and back – about 3 miles
  3. Elite Course from Maho Beach to Whistling Cay, then to and around Cinnamon Cay, back behind Whistling Cay and back to Maho – about 5.5 miles

Note that there will be a special category in the Short Course for kids 12 years and younger.

All races will start and finish on the beach at the Maho Bay Pavilion.  Please see the detailed Course Description for more details.

 Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female finishers in each race and in the special category for kids 12 and younger in the Short Course.

Lunch at the awards ceremony will only be available to competitors, volunteers, and those who have purchased a lunch voucher in advance (available when registration opens September 15th).  Regrettably, lunch vouchers will not be available on race day at the awards ceremony.  

Following our awards ceremony we will have a 'Guided Turtle Paddle' led by our Sea Turtle Monitoring and Protection Program Leader, Adren Anderson, with boards provided by Virgin Islands Expedition Co. So spectators, volunteers, and competitors can learn and paddle together at lovely Maho Bay, one of our sea turtles' favorite bays!


Registering for the event, but don't have a board. No worries! Rent a board from one of our proud sponsors as a registered paddler and receive a discount! Please be advised that quantities of rental boards are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis.
