Swim to Cinnamon Bay, swim to Trunk Bay, or go all the way to Hawksnest Bay.

On Saturday, May 24, 2014 Friends of Virgin Islands National Park will host the 11th Annual Beach-to-Beach Power Swim on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The race consists of three courses:

  • Short Course from Maho Bay to Cinnamon Bay, about 1 mile
  • Intermediate Course from Maho Bay to Trunk Bay, about 2¼ miles
  • Long Course from Maho to Hawksnest, about 3½ miles. Swimmers can compete in the long course as an individual or as part of a 3-person team.

Swimmers may also compete assisted by snorkel and/or fins in an "assisted swimmer" category

Registration Fees

This non-refundable fee is a donation to Friends of Virgin Islands National Park, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and may be tax deductible.

The following St. John hotels and villa rental companies are offering discounts of 10% to 25% to race participants and their companions:

Cinnamon Bay Campground, while not offering special rates, may be the most affordable accommodation option. It is located the closest to the start of the race and will be the venue for the pre-race meeting.

Pre-race meeting

At the T'ree Lizards Restaurant at Cinnamon Bay Campground, Friday, May 23rd. All swimmers are strongly urged to attend this full briefing.

3:00 pm: Registration and pre-check in (complete paperwork and distribution of event t-shirts and goodie bags)

4:00 pm: Detailed briefing on the course and the event. This lasts about 45 minutes

  

Race for a Reason

Returning this year is Race for a Reason, which gives participating swimmers an opportunity to further support the mission of the Friends of Virgin Islands National Park. Donations made to the Friends of VINP during the Race for a Reason Fundraising Challenge will be used to support the “Learn to Swim” program in Virgin Islands National Park along with other projects and programs. All participants raising $250 or more for Friends receive a Limited Edition 2014 Beach-to-Beach Power Swim hat and the top 3 fundraisers receive special gifts following the race at the Beach Party/Awards Celebration at Oppenheimer Beach.

Race for a Reason is going online for 2014! Participants may create their own fundraising page online and race for prizes for the Top 3 Fundraisers. Link to our fundraising homepage here, and get started creating a personalized page! All donations made through these online pages are tax-deductible and benefit Friends of VI National Park.

 

Power Swim RECOVERY PARTY Boat Trip to Jost Van Dyke!

Curz Bay Water Sports St. John US Virgin IslandsAfter a great day at the Beach-to-Beach Power Swim and Awards Party, come join your swimming friends for a Recovery Party Boat Trip to Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands!!!
Grab your friends and family and climb aboard with Cruz Bay Watersports for a day of island adventures aboard their boats, Island Spirit and Island Time.  This full-day trip is to beautiful White Bay on Jost Van Dyke.


INCLUDES:

  • A fabulous snorkel stop in the morning with all gear provided
  • A continental breakfast and beverages
  • Full open bar after snorkeling aboard the boat (beer, wine, mixed drinks, soft drinks, Cruzan and Sky products


COST:

$100 per person includes all fees, including BVI Customs (regularly $165.00 per person).  Lunch and drinks ashore on Jost Van Dyke are not included.  Cruz Bay Watersports is supporting Friends of VI National Park by donating more than half of your trip fee for projects that protect, preserve and educate in our park!

CHECK IN:

The boat(s) check in at the National Park Visitor Center will be at at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 25th and return at  approximately 4:30 p.m.  Register early to reserve your spot, as space is limited to two boats dedicated privately for the Beach-to-Beach Recovery Party.

Advance registration ends Friday, May 23rd at 5 pm.  Walk-up registration can be done at the Awards Party at Oppenheimer Beach following the Beach-to-Beach Power Swim on Saturday, May 24th.  All advance payments are a donation to Friends and are nonrefundable unless the trip is cancelled.  All are welcome to Party with a purpose and come along on this fun and fabulous trip.
