Interested in getting involved? Here are some ways in which you can help:
Join Volunteer Trail Crew
Help maintain Park trails and ruins, and remove debris from beaches and coastlines. Work projects will vary weekly and volunteers of all skill levels are welcome. This volunteer program begins in November and runs until April.
If you are interested in helping out, simply show up any Tuesday or Thursday at the National Park Maintenance parking lot at 8:00 am. (There are also pickup stops at Cinnamon Bay Campground at 8:15 am and Maho Bay Camps at 8:30 am). Be sure to bring sufficient water, a snack, and wear “brush appropriate attire,” (long pants and shirt, and sturdy closed-toed shoes).

Adopt-A-Beach/Bay/Trail
Help local businesses/organizations/school groups who adopt beaches and/or trails to keep these beautiful places clean of trash and debris.
Become an Annaberg Docent
Provide tours of the Annaberg Plantation Ruins, a site rich in historical and cultural significance. Docents answer questions from visitors about the history of Annaberg and give tours as needed.
Assist at NPS Visitor Center
Welcome guests to the National Park Visitor Center by answering questions about St. John’s culture and natural history, selling books and gifts, and answering phones.
Help out in the Friend’s Office or Store
We don’t have enough staff to get all this work done! Assist with a variety of different projects in the Friends office or help staff the Friends of the Park Store, selling eco-friendly merchandise and interacting with Park visitors.
Special Events!
Volunteers are needed for upcoming events, such as Friends’ Earth Day Environmental Fair (April) and the Beach-to-Beach Power Swim (May).
