Cinnamon Bay, circa 1965

Though little more than their physical presence is noted throughout early Danish colonial records, the enslaved laborers who served on the Cinnamon Bay plantation were indeed the true builders of the estate. Whenever we marvel at the ruins of the skillfully crafted structures within the estate complex, or stand in awe of the beauty of its landscape, we would do well to remember that every aspect of what we survey has to some degree been shaped by their hands.
